Boat trip on the Indian Ocean for whale and dolphin watching.

 

Whale watching season at Mirissa is from November to April. During the other time of the year ( from  May - October ) ocean can be rough.

Meet at the airport/in Colombo.
Depart to Mirissa. 

Boats depart from Mirissa harbor before 7:00 am (Better to be there at 6.30 am )

Whale watching trip typically lasts 3-5 hours, with an average duration of 4 hours.

Spotting Whales : 50%
Sighting Dolphins : 90%

Blue whales are the most common.
You may also see Bryde's whales, Sperm whales,  Fin whales, Pilot whales, Humpback whales, Orcas (killer whales).

You'll likely encounter pods of friendly  dolphins,  (spinner  длиннорылых, bottlenose, and Risso's dolphins) , playfully jumping and dancing on the ocean waves.

​

There's also a chance of seeing flying fish, turtles  and even sharks.

​

You will get snacks, bottles of water during the trip.

​

In the afternoon, you can visit Galle Fort - UNESCO world heritage site.
